Sonya Angelica Diehn completed her B.A. in Fine Arts at Pitzer
College (Claremont, CA) in 1998. A Tucson native and desert
rat, she returned to her Arizona hometown in 1999 to work on a range of
issues including environmental protection & sustainability, the impacts
of globalization, and alternative media. In September of 2000 she co-founded
the Arizona Independent
Media Center, and continues to produce independent media in
print, on the internet, and in video format. She has been a member of local
non-profit video production company Pan
Left Productions since 2001, and in July 2003 released her
first major video project, entitled Oasis
Under Siege: A Journey Through the Dying River.
In spring of 2004, Sonya will be leaving Tucson and her five-year position with the Center for Biological Diversity, a non-profit environmental organization, to travel in South America for a year. In her journey she hopes to continue to produce progressive independent video, work independently as a journalist, and shake her booty to Latin rythms.
